Sam Parkin, Danny Invincibile and Alan Reeves struck the goals as Swindon strolled to a comfortable victory over Chesterfield at a wintry County Ground.

On the day when their bitter rivals Oxford were cashing in at Highbury in the FA Cup, these points provided some consolation for Swindon supporters still haunted by last month's cup exit against their neighbours.

Indeed the first big cheer of the afternoon greeted news that Oxford had fallen behind in their tie against Arsenal.

There was however soon good reason for the 4,500 braving the Wiltshire weather to celebrate.

In the 33rd minute Steve Robinson's far-post centre was headed down by David Duke and Parkin produced an overhead kick to claim his 17th goal of this productive season.

Soon after half time Invincibile raced on to a perfect pass from impressive midfield supremo Stefani Miglioranzi to shoot home the second.

Chesterfield's 20-year-old goalkeeper Ben Williams, on loan from Manchester United, had little chance with the goals and but for his agility the Spireites would have fallen further behind. He did well to deny both Invincibile and Parkin further goals as Swindon completely overwhelmed their opponents.

At the other end Swindon keeper Bart Griemink appeared in danger of catching frostbite as he remained unemployed for so much of the afternoon.

Three minutes before the end Swindon's veteran defender Reeves met Andy Gurney's centre with a precise header, which found the top right-hand corner of Williams' net.

It helped earn Reeves the man-of-the-match award and gave this brother the satisfaction of a handsome victory.

There was no such joy for his twin David, who had a disappointing day in the Chesterfield attack and had earlier been replaced on a miserable afternoon for the visitors.
