Spireites frustrated by Os

Chesterfield were left to regret a string of missed chances as Orient grabbed their first point of the season in a goalless draw at the B2net Stadium.

The result condemned Chesterfield to their worst start since 1901 and the home side also had striker Jack Lester stretchered off near the end after a collision with goalkeeper Lee Butcher.

Chesterfield dominated much of the first half and Alex Mendy had a great chance to mark his debut with a goal in the fourth minute when a mistake by Ben Chorley sent him clear but he failed to beat Butcher.

Orient almost snatched a goal on the break in the 25th minute when Mark Laird forced Tommy Lee into a sprawling save, but Lester blazed over from eight yards a minute later and Chesterfield's frustration mounted when Mendy and Craig Westcarr both had efforts cleared off the line in a frantic scramble at the end of the first half.

In the second half Dean Cox headed wide for Orient and Chesterfield substitute Scott Boden flashed a header past the post deep into stoppage time.
