Three Lions score early points

A flicked header from Paraguay defender Gamarra was enough for England to cliam the three points in their opening game for the first time since 1998. Dominant but not effective England did enough to secure a victory although when Michael Owen was taken off for Stuart Downing the familar defensive techniques of Eriksson were brought to the fore.
If he continues with this practice against a much better side then we will be in for a hammering you only have to think of games versus Portugal,France,Brazil and Sweden to show how vital it is for us to kill a game.
Having said that it was hot out there and the main thing is the three points for now but it's still alarming to the cause of our potential World Cup win.
