The Sunday Review

As no score draws go this one was a cracker I felt, both sides going for the win but to be fair a draw was the only real result. Jamie Ward had four chances to score but only for saves from John Danby and a couple of sqaundered chances the Spireites would have won by four. Jamie Lowry had an excellent chance at the end but so did they through Simon Yeo who missed a sitter.

We started with a 4-3-3 formation with Ward playing through the middle and Fletcher and Lester joining him. Jamie Ward was superb and easily had his best game ever for the Spireites. Jack Lester's through balls were sublime and the Chester back four were close to playing him on-side countless times, when Ward eventually got through he either missed the target or Danby saved.

Speaking of new signings in Lester, Leven, Robertson, Winter & Fletcher only Kevin Gray new made his debut. I though that Peter Leven's debut was a poor one but I expect him not to perform as badly as that every week especially when I heard of the story which preceeded his contract deal. Apparently we offered him a two year deal to which he told the chairman that he was too good for so accepted the one year deal which we offered next, if this is the case on yesterdays showing the one year deal looks a good bit of business. Jack Lester was ok in bits yesterday but again I expect him to come good. Jamie Winter was tough tackling and I thought he played a steady game & Steve Fletcher showed some nice touches. Gregor Robertson had the toughest debut, up against his former team mate in Ritchie Partridge who absolutely skinned him time and time again, I don't expect us to play against wingers who are that good every week, Partridge was Chester's best player.

Our supporters made a lot of noise and the 800 or so that went well done .
