At the moment it's all going horribly wrong, the players seem to have lost confidence in themselves and are finding the constant switching of formations a distraction. Yesterday Derek Niven appeared visibly angry and annoyed with the role he was being asked to play, as soon as that happened Roy McFarland swapped formations with the Spireites moving to the familiar 4-4-2 from the diamond midfield formation that was getting nowhere.
We lost the game yesterday due to a magnificent cross from Chris Hackett who had just come on as substitute and the other substitute Poul Hubertz flicked a header in and all the hard work that we had done to get back into the game was lost. We only started to play in the second half and at one stage we had Millwall rattled but we can't keep playing matches for only thirty minutes, games last ninety you know.
Moving onto
On the performances of the new players, Kyle Critchell looks promising, Peter Holmes is an excellent loan signing and Jamie Wardhas bags of potential. What worries me is Seb Grimaldi constantly he was caught out of position and with a quality striker in Byfield had he had his shooting boots on both feet and not just one we could have been in more trouble. Grimaldi whilst looks solid and he does the basic things right to me he hasn't got the full centre half package, it's early to tell in his Spireite career but is it too late to find out?
