A Mad fifteen minute period saw four goals with three of them to the benefit of the Spireites in nine minutes. For half an hour this game was very drab with both sides not testing eother keeper nor producing anything of note possibly Town's insistance to not play down the wings created this. All of a sudden Folan chances on an error in the Bees defence and he's through and cooly slots it home like the man in form he is.
Seven mins later and a shot from Niven was parried by Brentford keeper Stuart Nelson and Paul Shaw took his chance, three minutes after that a cross from Paul Hall and Folan stuck it away like he has being doing for years (if only he had been doing it for years). Brentford pulled one back on the stroke of half time but they didn't threaten at all after that and the second half petered out and we took the three points. A source close to the ground says that several Bees supporters took it upon themsleves to leave the ground early and cause disruption in the Barley Mow whereupon they were ejected and sent on their way.
Overall a satisfactory three points and a pleasing victory against the worst Brentford side I have seen arrive at Saltergate usually they are well organised and collecting the three points but yesterday they were woeful. McFarland took Paul Shaw and Caleb Folan off fairly early into the second half to rest them for Wednesday night, I think that it's looking the better partnership with Larkin himself subbed just before full time as he was poorly being first change.
Roll on Wednesday.
