With Bailey,Nicholson and Blatherwick injured the core of our defence was ripped apart but as we have suitable replacements with Gareth Davies filling in at Full back Aaron Downes at Centre Half and Alan O'hare at left back why were we worried.
In fact the average age of our defence yesterday was (not including Carl Muggleton as he would scupper my claim) 22 a quite remarkable stat.
With such a young defence you would expect mistakes but we held out and kept the Posh at bay.

Sammy Clingan ran the midfield in a good battle with Curtis Woodhouse booed by the Chesterfield fans after a horror challenge on David D'Auria some years ago plus he's an ex-blade to boot. For me Gareth Davies is never a full back but he gave his all as he usually does when he pulls on a blue shirt for town. Aaron Downes oozed class for me he will be a great defender and time for a long term deal if Kevin Dawson isn't offered a new one. Caleb Folan and the Chief battled hard upfront and a sure set of starters for the game against Torquay on saturday.
For Peterborough David Farrell was superb he played on the left wing and terroised Davies, if only we had some money!!
Plus factor for the Spireites a win away only our second this season and only our fourth of 2004 but we are slowly moving in the right direction we currently are sitting in sixth place and we have no ambitions to go up only to survive and long may this continue six more wins and we have avoided relegation this is great news.
