Sunderland recall Carson

Loanee goalkeeper Trevor Carson has now returned to Sunderland after being formally recalled by the Premiership club.

The Black Cats had indicated last month its intention to recall him in the January transfer window because of longer-term goalkeeper injuries at the club.

The Spireites have already made enquiries about the recruitment of a replacement goalkeeper.

Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson said: "We are disappointed that Trevor has had to return to his parent club but we appreciate his time with us and wish him all the best for the future."

Trevor Carson made 20 appearances for the Spireites.
