SPIREITES SIGN RAMS DEFENDER

Chesterfield has signed Derby County defender James Meredith on one month's emergency loan, subject to clearance by the Football League.

The 18 year old Australian left back goes straight into the Spireites squad for the away game at Carlisle United this Tuesday night.

The loan move has been made necessary due to a set back in defender Alan O'Hare's recovery from a broken ankle, and defender Shane Nicholson, currently on loan at Boston United, has a broken nose from the weekend's game.

Chesterfield manager Roy McFarland said: "James goes straight into the squad for the trip to Carlisle United. He has been training with us and we like what we see. He is a natural left-footed player so brings crucial competition into the squad."
