Spireites resume hunt for Cup glory

Chesterfield go into their seventh Cup match of the season, at Saltergate tonight knowing that they have a full strength squad available for Roy McFarland to choose from.

Here at Compton Street we expect leading scorer and all round 'Raging Bull' Caleb Folan to be recalled to the starting line up in place of Colin Larkin, who could drop to the bench. Young Jamie Lowry could also resume his role at Full Back, but expect to see Phil Picken return to the side in his quest for match fitness following his return from injury. Roy could also be tempted to take a further look at central midfielders Michael Standing and Mark Hughes as they try to win long-term deals with the Spireites.

Don't expect wholesale changes though, as the Spireites will have no doubt paid further attention to the rule book this week in an attempt to avoid a further fine for playing a "weakened side".

Our opponents Chester City welcome back former Owls defender Ashley Westwood from suspension, and midfielder Roberto Martinez also returns from the sin bin to add a bit of continental glamour to proceedings. Seals boss Mark Wright is expected to immediately restore both to their side.

This game could arguably be Chesterfield's most important cup game so far this season; with many of the favourites already departed and a far more realistic chance of reaching a final at either the Millenium Stadium or (whisper it quietly) Wembley, both sides are sure to be treating this game as seriously as they would any other.
