Chesterfield manager John Sheridan praised his team's performance and also the referee after seeing his side beat Hereford 4-0. A hat-trick from Danny Whitaker and a header from Simon Ford ensured the win and goalkeeper Tommy Lee also saved a Ryan Valentine penalty to secure a clean sheet after he had felled down Mathieu Manset in the area. "I was pleased with lots of things and to win 4-0 and keep a clean sheet is hopefully confidence boosting," said Sheridan. "They are a strong team and I knew from set-plays they would be very effective so we had to defend at times, but I thought we deserved to be 2-0 up and were the better side but they were always in the game. "Obviously Danny (Whitaker) will get the accolades for his hat-trick and I know he can do that, he's a very intelligent footballer and that's what I want - goals from midfield and different areas. "I've seen goalkeepers sent off for that (Tommy Lee's foul for the penalty) but he's making a genuine attempt for the ball although I can understand if (Hereford boss) Simon (Davey) thinks he should have gone because I probably would have said the same. "But I think there should be a ruling if the keeper makes a genuine attempt to try and stop the ball, he shouldn't be sent off."
