Dale are currently top of the league and look certainties for promotion this season and Rundle is confident his new club are also capable of going up.
"I've trained with the lads and we have a good squad. I can't really see why we can't gain promotion," he told Chesterfield's official website.
"Chesterfield are sitting pretty in the play-off places at the moment and are not far off the automatic promotion spots, which has to be the aim."
