Assistant Manager Lee Richardson conducted the post match press conference.

Commenting on the 4-3 defeat, Rico said " It was a terrific performance from eleven young players who's back four is an average of 21. The main talking of the game is the performance of the referee, who's decision to award a penalty and then send off Janos Kovacs, the video is clear the ball hit Janos on the point of the shoulder. Hopefully the referee will have another look at it and recind the red card".

"We were the better footballing team in the first half, if they look fairly and squarely they will see the referee has played a big part in the victory today."

Speaking about the possible injuries Rico said" Rocheys has pulled a thigh muscle and will be doubtful for Rotherham, other than that there are no major concerns".

Southend Manager Steve Tilson commented" It was a great result because they were a good side and it will stand us in good stead". On the penalty incident Tilson said" To be honest it didn't look like a penalty and it's harsh to get sent off for something you can't get away from".

Southend Striker Shaun Goater spoke a load of tosh when he commented "If we want to be where we want to be at the end of the season then we have to go to places like Chesterfield and win. You could feel that even when Chesterfield went ahead they felt relief??!?!?!".

Stick to the football Gloater instead of patronising us.

One word on the Referee would be suffice here but as this is a family website
then I won't use the word which starts with an S.
