Roy said" We didn't turn up, it's the worst performance since I've been here. We had one or two chances and they have had about double and most of them have been inflicted on ourselves. All I can do is apologise, we picked oursleves up from three very good performances and it didn't happen for us today. We have to win our home games if we want to be in contention for the play offs."
Meanwhile Yeovil Manager Steve Thompson was cock-a-hoop and commented" The players (yeovil) were absolutely magnificent as they have been all week, I'm so pleased for then as we have worked hard today and this result has been coming"
That performance was rubbish, I certainly echo Roy's comments that I haven't seen a poorer performance for a long time, too many of the players we off keyand I fail to understand why. After a midweek break in the sunny climates of the Costa Del Sol I would have thought this would relax the players and this would make them focus on the job in hand. It certainly relaxed the players all right so much so the Yeovil went through us like a knife through butter. Yeovil need not have attacked so much as we were capable of making cock ups all by ourselves. Muggs made a fool of himself in the first half with a poor clearance and Jamie O'Hara's passing was embarrasing at times, along with Colin Larkins ineffectiveness we might as well have called the game off last night.
Thanks to the efforts of the Ground Staff,Volunteers and supporters this game went ahead and it really does show the community spirit behind Chesterfield Football Club, if only the same effort could have been shown by our players then it would have been a worthwhile day.
Lastly on a sad note, Anthony Barry the Yeovil player dislocated a kneecap in a innocuous challenge with Kevan Hurst, it looked like he had broken a leg at first but confirmation came through that the injury looked a shocker. We wish Anthony a speedy recovery and good health for the future.
