Chesterfield's opponents on Saturday, Gillingham, earned a terrific result on Easter Monday, beating promotion chasing Bristol City to take them to 52 points and almost certain safety from relegation whilst Spireites goalless draw at Cheltenham leaves them three points from escaping the drop zone.
Striker Paul Shaw, at the centre of two 'no-penalty' shouts at Whaddon Road on Monday, is a Gillingham all-time-great, one of Priestfield's banqueting suites is named in his honour, and he's looking forwards to the weekend's clash.
On the Bank Holiday showing, Shaw acknowledged the shift his defensive colleagues put in, "They did really well, Cheltenham had won a couple of games and were very confident but we dealt with them quite comfortably, especially in the first half."
For the game against his ex Club, he recognises that their win over Bristol City will help them, "They'll be more confident but we're confident at the moment as well, we'll be at home after winning at home last Saturday and we'll be going into the game looking to win it."
"Orient have been dragged back into the fight as well, we know it'll go right to the wire but we're pleased with how we're doing at the moment. Four points from two games at the weekend is pleasing, though we could easily have won at Cheltenham."
Shaw will be having a chat with a few of his ex Priestfield mates this week, "I'll be trying to get a bit of information out of them," he says adding, "It was a good win for them, I didn't expect them to beat Bristol City, that may just make them a bit more relaxed come Saturday having passed 50 points."
