Star midfielder Derek Niven has a badly bruised and swollen ankle which he obtained during saturday's 1-0 victory over Walsall. The Scotsman will be out of action for around four weeks and will be deeply missed by the team.
Niven's injury was the subject of some tough tackling from the Walsall players as they struggled to cope with a first half onslaught by the Spireites, later during the game Gareth Davies limped off with a thigh injury he himself had replaced Niven in the first half, Davies is rated doubtful for saturday's derby with Barnsley.
Niven was hoping to be able to renew his partnership with Captain Mark Hudson who had just come back form injury himself, I would expect that manager Roy Mcfarland will have to try for a loan signing with with injury list getting longer.
More team news and injury updates later on in the week as we look forward to the big game with Barnsley at Oakwell on saturday.
