News From The Rec

The Spireites today have signed Hungarian defender Jonas Kovacs from MTK Budapest on loan for two years. The 19 year old has made a few appearances pre-season and will be looking to join the squad for Saturday's trip to Blackpool.
The deal which has brought Kovacs to Saltergate is quite unique for the CFSS and CFC Boards. Kovacs will in theory be owned by two clubs us and MTK whereupon if another club expresses a desire to sign Kovacs both the Spireites and MTK will benefit 50/50. Kovacs will move back to MTK after his two year deal in England.

The Spireites completed a first team pre-season with a draw at Halifax. Goals from Caleb Folan and Adam Smith gave the Spireites a 2 goal lead only for Halifax to storm back and grab two goals to finish the game.
Niven Doubtful for Saturday

Derek Niven and Alan O'Hare are both doubtful for Saturday's opener against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road. Niven has barely featured pre-season where O'Hare had been looking in superb form. Aaron Downes will be looking to partner Steve Blatherwick at the weekend.
