NEWS FROM THE REC

We need a bit of this at the moment

So we travel to London Road on Saturday fresh from a thumping at Oldham on Tuesday night. It’ll be interesting to see how we target this particular game as Peterborough are not in the same vein of form as the Latics but that doesn’t mean to suggest they won’t be as tough. They managed a 1-1 draw away at Milton Keynes Dons midweek and they currently sit in 19th place just above the relegation spots.

The posh’s home record is average played ten won four lost three with three draws. Last season we took over a thousand fans down to Cambridgeshire and secured a 2-0 win with goals from Glynn Hurst and Jamie McMaster both players no longer with the Spireites.

An interesting note is that we were allowed to stand behind the goal last season with some seated to the right of us in the main stand. Now Posh officials have decided to close off the standing area for us and are making sit in the main stand which holds 800 seats for visitors. Now they are making us pay an extra £5 per head to sit in this stand, is this right? We are expected to bring a lot of fans down but where are we all going to be seated?

As for travelling beware of roadworks on the A1 near Newark/Nottingham and beware of outrageous prices for going on the train Chesterfield/Peterborough £33.50 return. So it’s £16 to sit and £33.50 to get there before beer and food and a possible programme. Expensive yes but I’m still going I couldn’t bear another Saturday without a game. (I do realise that we will have one on the 8th January however I’m going to another game)

As regards to the squad Steve Blatherwick is doubtful with a hamstring injury after picking up a knock on Tuesday night, so Aaron Downes fresh from his exploits in South America with the Australia’s U21’s comes into the squad.
