NEWS FROM THE REC

Oldham's JJ versus Boltons JayJay.

Yesterday was awful no Football. Suffering from a hangover on Saturday morning I really wanted to go to watch Hearts v Dunfermline however I decided not to and I volunteered to go to the pub to watch Chelsea v Newcastle and what a big mistake that was, Newcastle's defensive problems coming onto full view of the watching public all the way around the world. Plus I had Chelsea to win 4-1 my mood got darker!

Anyway to a more important turn of events our away fixture at Oldham. Unfortunately Rob Lee may not be appearing for the Latics for some reason, he is to meet Athletics boss Brian Talbot tomorrow. Most of our squad have been laid low with a flu/cold virus so most of the squad would not have been available for this weekend anyway. Fortunately Derek Niven will be entered into the squad as it looks like he will have recovered from the ankle knock that he picked up against tough tackling Swindon.
So away at Oldham last season was awful, we lose 2-0 and then I thought that was it we were down but little of a week later the 88th minute winner against Luton and we are able to play both sides again this season. Oldham have struggled at the start but picked up over the last few weeks and were averaging around three goals a game at one stage, they had an excellent win in the FA Cup over Leyton Orient yesterday and hopefully they shall get a good draw. Finances are tight are Boundary Park as they are over the lower leagues so a cup run will be a nice tonic.

Most of our squad should be fit though I can't think of anyone that is a long term injured player, so expect The Chief and Mark Stallard to start upfront as Roy Mcfarland has tended to do away from home. To keep in contention at the top we need a few away wins one this season at Bradford is not good enough, maybe I'm being too harsh there but are we not going for Promotion?

Anyway a point would be nice three would be excellent.
