So it's off on our travels again this time cup action and we go to Mose Rose. Macclesfield Town are the opponents and we have an excellent record against them in this competition. We have played them twice and won both times a 4-2 victory in the 2000-01 promotion season and a 2-1 victory our first of the season last year. Macclesfield like us have had an excellent start to the season, in their last game at the weekend they beat Darlington 1-0 to move up to sixth place in League Two, whilst we will start favourites in this tie we must be careful as Macclesfield have proven to be sticky opponents in the past, for example we played them in an FA Cup 1st Round tie in 1992 when Macclesfield were a non-league side and we lost after a replay on penalties. After our disappointing game on saturday we will be looking to bounce back and improve our dreadful away record coupled with the fact that we cannot score away from home I'm amazed that we are favourites but then we are a league higher. Injury wise we still have Kevin Dawson,Caleb Folan and Derek Niven out injured and Mark Innes suspended I think for three games as it was a straight red and for violent conduct. My personal hunch is that Gareth Davies will come in to replaced the aforementioned Innes and Aaron Downes will replace Davies on the bench. Down to bare bones again. PF |
