So we've slipped three places in the league with our defeat at Luton and Tranmere's win over Oldham last night, to be fair I'm so happy with our performances this season that I haven't really got a right to complain you might think.
However it's funny that even the most mild mannered person on saturday could see that Luton were a step above us in class and fully deserved their victory, once again we huffed and puffed and got no reward i.e. Tranmere away although this time we decided to get two men sent off, fully deserved in my eyes.
Let's not think dwell on the negatives though, to only lose 1-0 at Luton deserves credit in a small way because last season we would have been thrashed out of sight so their you go I've used up all of the positives.
With Blatherwick and Nicholson out suspended and Dawson out injured the defence will take some tinkering possibly with the inclusion of Vice-Captain Ian Evatt back from injury and Aaron Downes from the subs bench. However Manager Roy Mcfarland will probably play O'Hare in the Centre of Defence with Evatt and Mark Innes at Left Back. (Who would be a manager!)
So this Saturday we will meet up with old foes from a few years ago Walsall, with a squad that hasn't changed a great deal from last season and a popular manager in Paul Merson you would expect them to be challenging, however like all newcomers to this league they have had a mixed start conceding more than they have scored 17-15 is not great but it shows that they can score goals which obviously is a threat.
Injury doubts for us are T'cham N'toya (hamstring) and Ian Evatt although both are expected to be fit for saturday, I'll keep you posted.
February 20th 1999 was the last time we played Walsall at the Bescot Stadium 1-1 was the score with current Northern Ireland international and MK Dons player Mark Williams scoring our goal.
