Today's game against Rochdale has been called off due to a frozen pitch.
A heavy overnight frost put the game in doubt despite precautions being taken.
There has been a formal pitch inspection by the match referee who has called off the game.
As a precaution the whole of the Saltergate pitch was covered on Friday at a time when the pitch appeared to be in a playable condition.
But overnight temperatures in Chesterfield were severe hence the need for the inspection which has resulted in the game being called off.
A date for the re-arraged game has still to be agreed.
