Chesterfield forward Jamie Jackson has joined Blue Square North side Gainsborough Trinity on loan until the end of their season.

The 21 year old, who has recently returned to Saltergate after a short loan spell at Matlock Town, has currently got limited opportunities for first team football.

This follows the return of forward Adam Smith from a loan spell at Lincoln City and plans to bring in further recruits to strengthen the squad.

Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson said: "Opportunities are limited just now for Jamie so he has joined Gainsborough Trinity to get regular football where his progress can still be monitored."

There are Chesterfield connections at Gainsborough where former Spireites striker David Reeves is now assistant manager and former defender Steve Blatherwick is the fitness coach.
