Chesterfield FC has beaten significant opposition to sign the highly-rated former Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United striker Jack Lester.
The 31 year old, who has attracted transfer fees totalling £350,000 during a football career which started at Grimsby Town as a trainee in July 1994, has signed a three deal until June 2010, subject to a medical.
Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson said: "I am delighted that Jack Lester has agreed to join us as he is a quality player who had other options apart from Chesterfield. I wish to thank the chairman and board for making this exciting signing possible."
