Hubbard pride at celebrations

The long-time leaders were crowned champions on Saturday after defeating Gillingham 3-1 at the b2net Stadium.

Extra security measures were taken after the last home match against Bury was marred by pitch invasions, with one Chesterfield fan subsequently arrested for punching visiting goalkeeper Cameron Belford.

But there was no repeat of those scenes at the weekend and Hubbard expressed his pride at the way the supporters conducted themselves.

"I am so proud of the way our fans behaved after the Gillingham match and can't thank them enough for making it such a wonderful day to remember in the history of the club," said Hubbard. "We had a plan for everything that was to happen on the day and thanks to the fans staying off the pitch, as we had asked, everything worked absolutely perfectly and was a fitting end to a wonderful season.

"Well done everyone and thank you for making such a special occasion so very special. I hope everyone has noted that our fans celebrated in a responsible manner, which ensured it was such a joyful occasion for everybody."
