The Spireites have named their captains for season 2007-08 with the appointment of a new team captain, and a new club captain as well.
Team captain will be central defender Aaron Downes who has recently signed a new two year deal with the Spireites. The 22 year old is also a member of the Australian U23 Olyroos team which is currently competing for qualification for the 2008 Bejing Olympic Games.
Club captain will be the experienced central defender Kevin Gray who has joined the Spireites from Carlisle United on a free transfer after leading the Cumbrians recently to two successful promotion seasons.
New team captain Aaron Downes said: "It is a real honour for me to be team captain of Chesterfield FC but I thrive on responsibility and my aim is to give the lads the leadership they will respect."
New club captain Kevin Gray said: "It is always an honour to take on the role of captain and I will be giving Aaron all the support he needs to fulfil his leadership role on the pitch."
Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson said: "I feel these two players, at different ends of their football careers, will complement each other in providing the supportive leadership that every squad needs."
