DOWNES GETS ANOTHER CALL-UP

Chesterfield's Australian central defender Aaron Downes is once again attracting interest from the Australian National Team.

The 21 year old has been invited to join the Qantas Socceroos Senior Squad for training ahead of their International Friendly next month against Denmark at QPR's Loftus Road ground on Tuesday 6 February 2007, kick-off 8.00pm.

The Spireites promising young defender will join the full senior squad for two training sessions and travel with the team for their International against Denmark in London.

It is the second time he has been called up for special training. He joined up with the Socceroos senior squad ahead of their last international in this country against Ghana in November 2006.

He is also under consideration for inclusion in the Socceroos U23 squad for the forthcoming Olympics.

Chesterfield manager Roy McFarland said: "There is no doubt that Aaron gains wonderful experience by being able to train with the Australian national squad."

"This is further recognition of the progress he is making since last playing for the Socceroos U20 squad."

This again is excellent news for Aaron and the Chesterfield side as a whole it means we aregetting recognised and producing potential international players. Ok Aaron will only be training with the Aussies this time again but he must have something that the Socceroos management like. Just waiting to see if Kyle Critchell will get a Welsh U21 call up too.
