Downes on the Up

Spireites Defender Aaron Downes has been rewarded with a two year contract extension which sees him signed until June 2008. Downes has put in some impressive performances with Steve Blatherwick injured as this has culminated in another deal. Downes was signed after a successful trial and a move from non-league Frickley Athletic was arranged after he had been released from Bolton Wanderers.
Downes has played for the Australian Youth Set up and is looking to increase his opportunities for the Socceroos and push for a place in the U21 and possibly the National Team.
