A trip into South Yorkshire is never easy, the last time we went to Rovers we came away winners. A Tcham N’Toya goal stole the points in a dreadful game, in fact dreadful matches are all we ever seem to get out of a fixture with Donny. With both teams having woeful stadiums (Rovers are at least getting theirs built as we write) there is a kind of unity in both our plights. Traditionally Chesterfield and South Yorkshire don’t get on but the fact that the Sheffield Clubs dominate the area with support and boastfulness it’s no wonder that Rovers and us have a puzzled look on anyone who supports the Sheffield teams and not their home town ones.

Generally we don’t do so bad at Belle Vue or Hell Vue on sparky fanzine called it. Over the past few years we haven’t been able to visit the old ground due to Rovers being inept then fighting like Trojans to join up with us again. Chairman John Ryan has built the club up on the playing side of things with Manager Dave Penny pulling the strings, but is now looking at the commercial side of Doncaster with the local council (take heed Borough Council) and of course the aforementioned new stadium.

This Season, Rovers have had fantastic cup coverage with their hard earned wins over Premiership sides Manchester City and Aston Villa, their League Cup campaign coming in heartbreaking penalty shoot out against Arsenal.

League wise Rovers have flattered to deceive, they started the poorly, gained some momentum around September,October and November but finished 2005 with three defeats, they haven’t started well either with two defeats in the first two games of 2006.

Steve Foster the big centre half has left Rovers by mutual consent today, he is thought to be replaced by Graeme Lee the Sheffield Wednesday Centre back for around £50000. Squad wise, it is thought that Rovers have mainly an unchanged team from the defeat in the Cup to Port Vale. Although Ricky Ravenhill is suspended.

We on the other hand have injury doubts over Steve Blatherwick (hamstring) and Mark Allott (calf) coupled with Alex Bailey still injured. With the proposed move of Sammy Clingan yet to go through, as I write he could still be in the squad as Saturday is his last scheduled match for the Spireites for a very long time it would appear. But we now add Jamie O’Hara to the squad.

Spireites:- Roche, Picken, Blatherwick, Hazell, Nicholson, Hall, Allott, Clingan, Niven, Smith, Allison, Larkin, Muggleton, O’Hare, Kovacs, Davies, Downes, Folan, N’Toya.
