Chesterfield midfielder Gareth Davies has been released from his contract by mutual consent.
The 24 year old former Chesterfield College scholar, who can play in midfield or full-back, is currently one of Chesterfield's longest serving players but his contract was due to expire at the end of this season.
Gareth has made a total of 137 appearances since first signing a professional contract with the Spireites in May 2002 but has only made one appearance this season.
He had a loan spell with Stalybridge Celtic earlier in the season after recovering from a broken toe sustained in the pre-season friendly at Matlock Town.
Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson said: "We need to shake things up a bit in the squad and as Gareth is not currently in line for a regular first team place I wanted to give him the opportunity in good time to play football elsewhere.
Lee Richardson added: "He leaves us with our very best wishes for the future and our thanks for all his efforts whilst he has been with us."
