GAZ JOINS CELTIC

Spireites defender/midfielder Gareth Davies has joined Stalybridge Celtic, of Blue Square North, on one month's loan.

The move has been set up to provide the player with additional match practice following his injury lay-off due to a broken toe sustained in a pre-season game at Matlock Town.

The 24 year old former Spireites youth team player, and currently Chesterfield's longest serving player, rejoined full training with the first team squad only this week after a period of rehabilitation with fitness coach Shane Nicholson.

Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson, said: "After testing his fitness this week Gareth now feels the time is right to take up this chance to get some games under his belt."

One restriction placed on the loan move is that Gareth Davies is not allowed to play in Stalybridge Celtic's FA Cup qualifying tie next week against Hyde United so he does not become cup-tied.

Gareth Davies said: "I am really excited to get out and play some games and am looking forward to playing with Stalybridge Celtic."

Gareth joins up with former Spireite defender Steve Payne who joined Stalybridge Celtic only this summer.
