Craig Davies will miss Chesterfield`s Carling Cup clash against Middlesbrough through suspension. The striker must serve a three-match ban following his controversial red card in the Spireites` 2-1 home win over Barnet on the opening day of the League Two campaign. Ian Morris is an injury doubt after the on-loan Scunthorpe midfielder limped off in that match. Blues boss John Sheridan will not want to make too many changes for the televised first-round tie. Derek Niven could force his way into the side, depending on the fitness of Morris and whether Sheridan opts to partner Drew Talbot with Jack Lester in attack. Jordan Bowery and Scott Boden are also alternatives in the absence of Davies.
