Critchell set to sign

Kyle Critchell is set to sign from Southampton this afternoon in a deal till the end of the season, Critchell is a utility player and has been on loan at Torquay United this season. Chester City have also expressed an interest in buying the player, however Critchell has spent the last couple of weeks training with the Spireites. Critchell is also currently a member of the Welsh U21 Squad he has three caps to his credit.

Chesterfield FC is set to sign Southampton utility player Kyle Critchell permanently until the end of the season.

Agreement has been reached with both Southampton and the player, who is 20 years old this Thursday.

He is expected to sign before the weekend and be included in the squad for Saturday's home game against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Chesterfield manager Roy McFarland said: "Kyle can play in defence or midfield and is right or left footed, clearly all attributes that can bring greater flexibility for our small squad."

Meanwhile, defender Shane Nicholson could be joining Boston United on one month's loan after an enquiry was made by the League Two club.
