Chesterfield V Southend at Proact Stadium - Match Preview

Cooper banned for Spireites

Chesterfield will be without the suspended Liam Cooper when Southend visit the Proact Stadium in the FA Cup.

Cooper was sent off in a controversial penalty incident in the league loss at Newport last weekend and will miss the second-round tie against the Shrimpers as he serves a one-match ban. His absence could see Sam Hird return to the centre of defence alongside Ian Evatt.

Callum McFadzean, on loan from Sheffield United, is eligible to play but will not be available when the Spireites travel to Oldham in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday night.

Ritchie Humphreys should also come back into the squad after missing the trip to Newport after his daughter was admitted to Sheffield Children's Hospital following an accident.

Southend look set to have Freddy Eastwood and Barry Corr available.

Eastwood returned to training this week following a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a knee injury while fellow striker Corr has overcome a slight ankle problem sustained in last weekend's 1-1 draw against Cheltenham.

Midfielder Will Atkinson completes a one-match suspension having collected his fifth booking of the season against the Robins, joining Cauley Woodrow on the sidelines as he serves the second game of his three-match ban.

Midfielder Ryan Leonard is closing in on his return from a hamstring injury but the game comes too soon.
