Kevan Hurst is set for an appearance in United's FA Cup sponsored by E.ON Third Round clash with Swansea City at the Lane on Saturday.
The Blades youngster comes into contention having completed a six-month loan spell at Chesterfield. He linked up with United for first-team training on Thursday.
United's assistant manager, Stuart McCall, said: "Kevan will be involved at some stage on Saturday. He's only trained one day with us, but he had a good session on Thursday. Kevan looks lively and scored a couple of good goals in training. I'm sure he's looking forward to Saturday."
McCall added that it is important that Hurst, who netted three goals in a productive spell at Saltergate, now kicks on and stakes a claim for a spot in United's first-team:
"Kevan has done well at Chesterfield. When lads have been playing regular first-team football and then come back for a week and find they're now playing in the Reserves, you see a little depression in them - because nothing can beat first-team football.
"When you go out on loan and, if you can't get back in, then that becomes an irritation to the player. But Kevan has shown that he'll be involved on Saturday, and it depends what happens after that."
