If you want me to say something good about last night I'm struggling I really am. Oh yes, The chicken bhuna and rice before the game was excellent. That's it really, oh and Caleb Folans' second half performance (well he scored).
Once again we conceded a goal inside five minutes like some many times last season. In fact we were two down before I'd finished said chicken bhuna and rice a la Hartlepool but without the chicken bhuna and rice. We seemed to play as if we had been playing all week and this was the last game, in fact we had a ten day break and Oldham were playing their fourth game in ten days all of which they had won.
To be very very blunt we were awful and a poor advertisement for the good start that we have produced. It was so many bad performances of last season all rolled into one and boy it was a shocker. I'm not going to name players names and most of the 404 away supporters know who they were but we need to change the team now. Certain players are getting a game where they don't warrant it for one reason or another and I can name at least three and none of these are in the defence (bizarre I know).
The long journey back to Newcastle after was slightly compensated by the fact we took our minds off the result by quoting various Peter Kay Jokes and The league of Gentlemen, but during the game I felt that the only people having a laugh at our expense was the Oldham players, supporters and staff.
