BIG MATCH PREVIEW

Inconsistancy is Huddersfield's consistancy, there results have been a kind of win draw lose, lose draw win type of scenario. That form is not good enough for the play offs but excellent for mid-table positioning. This is something that the Spireites are doing although in a slightly different way, we started off like a house on fire with excellent home wins coupled with the odd draw away from home and a win at Bradford, however the second half of the season has seen us pickup away from home and lose our home record which currently has five defeats to it's name and the last home win on the 27th November against Swindon Town. So yes we are showing the same form as the Terriers.

Last time out against the Terriers at Saltergate saw us win 1-0 with Kevin Dawson bagging his only goal for the Spireites on the 30th November 2002. That win took us to thirty points that season and into eighth place then a horrendous run of form saw us clinch safety on the very last day of the season against Blackpool. (But that's in the past)

As both sides still have an outside chance of the playoffs I would expect Saturday's game to be entertaining if only to see the reaction Chris Brandon gets from the Saltergate supporters, I expect him to get a rough ride which is a shame as Brandon gave us his all in the two seasons he was with us.

Chris Brandon in action for the Terriers

I have never thanked the Huddersfield fans for that day at Cardiff, well here's my opportunity. I came home early from the Riverside in Durham after watching Shoaib Akhtar blast through the Derbyshire batting line up and turned on the TV to watch the rest of the game. It was in extra time and Mansfield had just had the disallowed goal thanks to the Linesman. Then the penalties with Liam Lawrence putting his penalty somewhat amiss (Ha Ha Ha that will teach you for getting a last minute winner at Saltergate) and then Ex-Spireite Rob Edwards sending Huddersfield into League One well here's to you Huddersfield, just don't take the points off us on Saturday.
