ALLOT RE-JOINS OLDHAM ATHLETIC

Midfielder Mark Allott has been transferred to his former club Oldham Athletic after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.

The 29 year old had indicated that he wanted to continue to play League One football following Chesterfield's relegation last season.

Chesterfield manager Lee Richardson said: "Although I am disappointed that Mark didn't want to play for Chesterfield in League Two I know he had become unsettled with the knowledge that his home town team club Oldham wanted to sign him."

Mark Allott started his professional career at Oldham as a trainee in August 1995. He joined Chesterfield on a free transfer as a forward in February

2002 but has since converted to midfield and last season was the Spireites captain.

In season 2005-06 he was voted Chesterfield's Players' Player of the Year and the Supporters Player of the Year. He made 243 appearances, scoring 14 goals, for the Spireites.

Can you blame him? I don't think you can really, hometown club comes calling, he wants League One football and he's been here a long time. We'll miss him although how much we'll miss him time will tell. Good Luck Mark.
