SIFA In Crisis Talks

Last updated : 04 May 2006 By Paul Fisher
The Spireite Independent Fans Association (SIFA) has seen its membership drop from an average of 500 to an unhealthy 250 which has prompted a crisis meeting in the County Hotel on Saltergate this coming with a 7.30pm start.
Formed in 1998 as opposition to the Norton Lea backed official supporters club the group organised protests against Lea and the then board and fully backed a takeover which happened in the form of Darren Brown. Browns tenure was disastrous which culminated with SIFA backtracking slightly and opened talks for a coup de'tat and bring down Brown, this never happened as Brown resigned anyway leaving oodles of debt and destruction. SIFA changed tact again and started a campaign of salvaging the pride of Chesterfield which was epitomised by a trip around all 91 other clubs sending messages of goodwill.

Since then SIFA has contributed to the funding of Chesterfield FC by sponsorship and reduced pricing for travel to away matches.

SO COMPTON STREET SAYS BE THERE 7.30pm County Hotel.
