Rain, Rain and more Rain is forcaast for this weekend so much so that I was scheduled to be reffing a Sunday League Game which thankfully has been called off. I was dreading it to be honest as the match in question had significant promotion contenders, I would state completely the wrong match to have someone who has never refereed a game before.
It's strange having a weekend off football unless its the first weekend in December (FA CUP 2nd Round day) a chance for me to catch up on a few things and at least watch the Newcastle game later and Keegans return. Sorry for harping on about the toon in the last few days but having spent eight years of my life there plus my daughter being a Geordie you tend to start to like them as well.
Was offered a ticket to watch the Birmingham v Chelsea match as well to which I cannot attend unfortunatley. I have never been to St Andrews, I missed the League Cup game there in 90/91 season.
I know Saltergate's facilites are somewhat bare and historical, however if you had heard what tripe the Rochdale correspondant from their official website was saying then you would have laughed at him. For starters he was complaining about the lack of room in the press box which is fine, something that we haven't heard before I hasten to add & then he got his bee in his bonnet about away supporters having to pay £17 to stand on an open terrace and he went on to point out that we should not be let into the League without a roof for Away supporters!!
First of all we're moving to a new ground eventually so it won't be for long on either counts and lastly if he thinks he can give it the big I am from picturesque Rochdale home of Cyril Smith and Lisa Stansfield then he's got another thing coming. He must have grandeurs of delusion plus I think he might be sick to the back teeth of not getting promotion in forty years odd...unlucky.
