Blog in Memory of Joe Shaw

Joe Shaw former Spireites Manager between 1973 & 1976 has passed away, Joe managed the club after becoming Sheffield United's record appearance maker.
One of the finest Centre Halves never to make his national team, Joe took over the reigns at Saltergate during a turbulant time, the 69-70 side were beginning to leave and Joe's new players weren't gelling as well as he's liked. But he stuck to his task but couldn't quite bring in around and Joe was replaced by Arthur Cox in 1976.

Joe was manager a tad before my time supporting the Spireites and by all accounts wasn't too succesful and after replacing the VERY popular Jim Mcguigan he had a massive task ahead of him.

Our thoughts are with Joe's family.
